a greath Shhhh

The silence is so intense that you can hear your own blood roar in your ears but louder than that by far is the mysterious roar which I always identify with the roaring of the diamond of wisdom, the mysterious roar of silence itself, which is a great Shhhh reminding you of something you’ve seemed to have forgotten in the stress of your days since birth.

Perhaps the most cliche to quote young Ray (amongst other iterations) but also in the same breath fitting as self introspection. After placing this book down for a number of days to pursue nefarious computer deals that I do not need and // or persist the facade that I do not look at social media I found myself needing to pick it back up. This little nugget manifested on the digital page and I found it fitting. My brain speeding towards panic constantly, be it a deal I needed to have, my misuse of time, my health, the impending work AFTER the holiday, my failure as a human, parent, spouse, even not penning nothings here caused great discomfort. This is simply a reminder for me to pay attention to my “diamond of wisdom” and envelope myself in its roar of silence.
